On June 9, 2021, a limestone dust leak at the Holcim cement plant in Aguacaliente (Cartago, Costa Rica) affected the nearby neighborhood without adequate press coverage or full documentation. This paper examines the work led by LCI Veritas architecture students, who in 2023 used OSINT methodologies, photogrammetry and camera matching to produce 3D models analyzing the dispersion of that dust cloud and other similar clouds released at the Holcim plant between 2015 and 2021, and the potential of these tools to manage environmental information and contribute to a forensic meteorology report.
